inAPPROPRIATE
May 2015.

For this exercise I took excerpts from Walter Benjamin's "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" and transformed it into a handcrafted interactive bookform. The 6" by 6" book opens to describe two forms of value: cult and exhibition. Opened once more, the book reveals four main panels with removable triangular pieces. The tiles exhibit different cultural and religious appropriations through contrasting symbols and accompanying text. Readers are encouraged to play with and read the connections between the types of value.
